History Is Lunch: Mississippi Made: Industry and Innovation in the Magnolia State

At noon on Wednesday, June 3, Eric Hintz, director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation, will present reflections on regional innovation cultures while highlighting Mississippi’s significant contributions to American industry and innovation, as part of the History Is Lunch series. Visitors are also encouraged to view Mississippi Made, a special exhibit currently on display at the museums, sponsored by Wayne-Sanderson Farms. This free event will take place in the Craig H. At noon on Wednesday, April 29, Alex Heard, editorial director of Outside magazine, will reexamine the lasting mysteries surrounding the case of Willie McGee as part of the History Is Lunch series. In 1945, McGee was sentenced to death, prompting national protests at the White House.
