Freedom Summer Tours

The Two Mississippi Museums education staff will offer tours at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. followed by a Q&A to honor the lives of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner. These three Freedom Summer volunteers were murdered on June 21, 1964, for their efforts in registering African Americans to vote during the Civil Rights Movement. The tours will highlight the story of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner, and its impact on Freedom Summer in Mississippi. For more information, call 601-576-6850 or email info@mdah.ms.gov.

Join us Tuesday, October 28, 11 a.m. at the Two Mississippi Museums to embark on a behind-the-scenes tour of the MDAH Historic Objects Collection led by Nan Prince, MDAH director of collections, and Hong Li, MDAH collections manager. Attendees will meet in the lobby of the Two Mississippi Museums.
