Join us for Preserving Religious Records, a free program to teach leaders and staff of faith-based organizations how to preserve valuable institutional documents, books, photographs, etc. The program will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. Registration is required and can be completed here. Laura Heller, acquisitions and collections coordinator at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH), will give the presentation and explain the MDAH collection policy for specific historical items, namely paper documents. At noon Wednesday, October 22, Jay Wesley, author of Choctaw Traditions: Stories of the Life and Customs of the Mississippi Choctaw, and Eddie Johnson, a tribal member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, will discuss a collection of stories from all nine Choctaw communities that captures the rich detail and complexity of Choctaw life as part of the History Is Lunch series.
