In honor of Medgar Evers’ birthday, the Two Mississippi Museums will be free to the public thanks to the Foundation for the Mid South. Education staff from the Two Mississippi Museums will host flash tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Evers was a key civil rights activist and the first Mississippi field secretary for the National Association for the Advancement for Colored People. At noon on Wednesday, April 29, Alex Heard, editorial director of Outside magazine, will reexamine the lasting mysteries surrounding the case of Willie McGee as part of the History Is Lunch series. In 1945, McGee was sentenced to death, prompting national protests at the White House.
