Juneteenth Jubilee

Join us on Friday, June 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. for Juneteenth Jubilee at the Two Mississippi Museums. Sponsored by Ingalls Shipbuilding, this free, family-friendly event will celebrate community, culture, and the emancipation of Black Americans. Enjoy local food trucks, line-dancing workshops, a kids’ zone, an adults-only lounge, and Juneteenth-themed educational guides. Flash tours begin at 5 and 6 p.m. Spoken-word performances by JT the Poet take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by Sadie at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 601-576-6850 or email info@mdah.ms.gov.

Celebrate Hezekiah Watkins' birthday at the Two Mississippi Museums on Tuesday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Copies of Watkins' book, Pushing Forward: The Story of Mississippi's Youngest Freedom Rider, and T-shirts will be available for purchase, followed by a book signing.
