Juneteenth Jubilee

Join us on Friday, June 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. for Juneteenth Jubilee at the Two Mississippi Museums. Sponsored by Ingalls Shipbuilding, this free, family-friendly event will celebrate community, culture, and the emancipation of Black Americans. Enjoy local food trucks, line-dancing workshops, a kids’ zone, an adults-only lounge, and Juneteenth-themed educational guides. Flash tours begin at 5 and 6 p.m. Spoken-word performances by JT the Poet take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by Sadie at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 601-576-6850 or email info@mdah.ms.gov.

Campers will learn through hands-on activities, stories, and creative projects that bring history to life. These sessions take place on July 6 –16 in the Pete Spiro Classroom at the Two Mississippi Museums.

At noon on Wednesday, July 15, Caroline Bayne, assistant professor of Communication and Media Studies and director of Film Studies at Millsaps College, will present on segregation in mass media in Jackson from the 1950s to the 1960s as part of the History Is Lunch series.
