History Is Lunch: Ted Atkinson, "Developing a Cultural Region: Mississippi in/and the TVA"

At noon on Wednesday, December 3, author Ted Atkinson will present Monumental Designs: Infrastructure and the Culture of the Tennessee Valley Authority as part of the History Is Lunch series. Atkinson, associate professor at Mississippi State University, will explore representations of the power and influence of the TVA in books, film and art from the New Deal era to the present. This program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums and will stream live on the MDAH Facebook page and YouTube channel. The 2025 Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, on the Entergy Plaza in front of the Two Mississippi Museums. The program will include a performance by the 41st Army Band, a moment of silence, recognition of the veterans in attendance and of fallen heroes by the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard.

At noon Wednesday, November 12, author Jere Nash will discuss his book, Reconstruction in Mississippi, 1862-1877, a detailed and comprehensive history of the period following the Civil War, as part of the History Is Lunch series. This program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums.
