The History Is Lunch program with Noah Saterstrom and Stephen Parks, "What Became of Dr. Smith? A Life Rediscovered," will be rescheduled.
Join us on site at noon on Wednesday, May 29, for History Is Lunch or watch the livestream when Lida Gibson and Jennifer Mack will present “Understanding Our Past: An Asylum Hill Project Update.”
The Asylum Hill Cemetery in Jackson is now part of the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, which opened in 1955. A century before, in 1855, it was the site of the Mississippi State Lunatic Asylum, which was renamed the State Hospital for the Insane in 1900.
